Vehicle & emissions assessments across the board
Toyota Motor Europe
Toyota Motor Europe has used the Emisia SIBYL tool for assessing the evolution of CO2 emissions from road traffic and the impact of vehicle technology, fuel, and ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) measures up to 2030. The project used SIBYL projections to assess the potential contribution of advanced biofuel production pathways, and the deployment of Information and Communication Technologies and Intelligent Transport Systems (ICT/ITS) in reducing CO2 emissions.
European Fuel Oxygenates Association
The “downstream CO2 emissions saving” potential of fuel ethers (mainly ETBE) occurring at fuel formulation level during refinery operation, as a result of the biofuels technical specifications, was investigated. The SIBYL tool was used to calculate CO2 benefits of common ETBE-petrol blends and compare these against benefits from equivalent bioethanol blends as well as conventional petrol.
The Dutch Standardization Institute (NEN)
The overall sensitivity of future (Euro 6c technology) vehicles and the fuel logistic chain (from refinery/blender up to filling station) towards mid-blend oxygenate (E20/25) petrol was investigated. The key factors were technology potential, the environmental effect and the costs of introducing mid-blend ethanol into the EU fuel market. It assessed the level of compatibility of EU fuel, measured and considered the scale of the changes that needed to be put in place, and the costs involved.
Hong Kong Environmental Protection Department
We are continuously supporting the Environmental Protection Department with their PEMS (portable emissions measurement system) data. The support consists of designing, developing, updating and maintaining an IT infrastructure for collecting, organizing, storing, and indexing the PEMS data. This IT system is then used for quality checking, processing, analyzing and assessing the PEMS data. The final dataset can be then used for the development of new emission models at various scales.
European Commission, DG for the Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs
The scope of the study was to perform due diligence on noise control regulations from power two wheelers proposed at UN level, before their consideration into the EU type approval system. Particular emphasis was given to the consideration of market surveillance and enforcement practices of the particular legislation.
